An Open Letter to Studentsβ¦
In my organic chemistry book, I want to include a letter to students. Hopefully, it will tell my story and give more insight into my inspiration to write the book. I also want to keep it honest and real. Organic chemistry can be tough, especially if you feel like you are teaching yourself each day. I am trying to strike a balance between telling my story and giving inspiration to keep pushing through. It is okay if it doesn't click the first time (most things don't). What else should I include in the letter? Let me know in the comments below!

β¨Latest Review!β¨
"This book is such a fun and inspiring read for kids and adults alike! π Jayda Abrams takes you on a journey through the alphabet, showing just how many different paths there are in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). Whether youβre into sea creatures, interested in the atmosphere, or curious about being a dentist, this book has it all π§βπ¬π’!
Jayda does an awesome job of explaining what different scientists do in a way thatβs easy to understand but still super engaging. She shows that science isnβt just for lab coats and test tubesβitβs for everyone with a passion! π©βπ«π Youβll meet paleontologists, wildlife ecologists, and even limnologists (yep, they study freshwater lakes!).
I love how this book makes STEM careers feel approachable and full of possibilities, especially for kids just starting to explore what theyβre interested in. Whether you dream of swimming with rare sea creatures or studying chromosomes, thereβs something in here for you π§¬π.
The Scientist in Me is a perfect pick for anyone curious about science and looking for inspiration. Itβs a reminder that STEM careers are exciting, diverse, and totally within reach! π"

Writing Daily
I have gotten into the routine of writing daily. It helps me get my thoughts down and helps me feel productive each day. But more importantly, it gives me a better answer to the question, "How long did it take you to write?" I can now provide a more specific answer than "I sat down at my computer after three weeks and let my thoughts dump out onto a page." The Scientist in Me took me two to three weeks to write (if I have to guessπ¬).

A Quick (Re)Introduction!
Hi! My name is Jayda! I am a former science teacher turned childrenβs author and social media manager. I am originally from VA but have been based in NYC for the past six years. I was inspired to write my first book (The Scientist In Me) after I could not find a similar resource for my classroom. I decided to give my book the unique twist of including industry vocabulary while making the entire thing rhyme after watching the Bedtime Stories episode of How I Met Your Mother (featuring instagram.com/lin_manuel) during the initial COVID lockdown. This page follows me and my writing shenanigans as I navigate the world of writing, publishing, and creating as a childrenβs author. Like and follow for more!

The Scientist In Me Times Square Billboard!
I still can't believe Audrey was on a billboard in Times Square in front of thousands of people yesterday! It was beautiful, and I am so proud. Hopefully, it will be the first of many! More pictures to come soonπ

Game of Thrones vs Isomers
Set in the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, Game of Thrones follows noble families vying for control of the Iron Throne and the Seven Kingdoms. Filled with political intrigue, epic battles, and complex characters, the series explores themes of power, loyalty, and survival between several families. Isomers are similar to the noble houses we have come to love from the show. Like siblings, isomers are molecules that have the same chemical formula but different structures or arrangements. This means they are made up of the same number and type of atoms, but those atoms are connected or oriented differently, giving the isomers distinct properties. I am back working on my first "adult" book about organic chemistry. With this book, I aim to translate a hard subject in a fun, colorful, and relatable way. Follow for more Orgo tips and tricks.

The Way You Post on Social Media is Like Resonance Structures in Organic Chemistry!
Imagine you go to the beach, snap a pic, and upload that image on different platforms for different audiences. You are being a resonance structure. It is no secret that social media often inflates reality. While images and captions reflect real life, theyβre not the full picture. This concept mirrors resonance in chemistry because a compound can have multiple Lewis Structures that accurately depict its electrons' arrangementβjust like how each social media post represents different facets of your life (ie family on Facebook, friends on Instagram, work on LinkedIn). These posts are like resonance structuresβeach one unique, yet none fully capturing the entire picture of you.

When the Publishing Process Goes Smoothlyβ¦
Iβve learned so much about writing and publishing between book one and book two. So far the process has been much smoother than the first go around. I think it is because this time I made sure to have all my ducks in a row before bringing the publishers in. There are a few edits and the art is already complete. I am excited to see the final product and hopefully it can be published by Earth Day 2025.

Dear Jayda, Writing is a journey full of highs and lows. Ups and downs. Twists and turns. Some days, the words will flow effortlessly, while on others, every sentence is a struggle. Embrace the entire process, challenges included. Remember, even the most celebrated authors have faced moments of doubt and frustration. Getting words on the page is better than nothing and editing is easier than writing. Holding a product you have created from scratch is a feeling that cannot be measured. Keep going. Enjoy the process. There is no such thing as perfect but there is perfect for now.

My second book is doneβ¦
My second book is done, I just need to start the publishing process. It is the first in my Yonka Series and I think it does a great job setting the stage for the series and showing what I am all about. It covers the scientific topic of ocean conservation and sustainability and will be a great addition to any classroom or library. I am excited for it to come to life and hope it will be out by Earth Day next year. Stay tuned to this page an @eco_ish for some little-known eco-friendly and sustainability facts.
